Derby Arboretum park was the first public park in England, with a strong history of famous landscape architects helping to create it’s beautifully flowing lines, trees and grassy banks. During 2010 i created a range of artworks inspired my the changing of seasons viewed from the Orangery onsite.
Exploring mark making techniques using inks and paper to try and capture the colours and overlapping shapes of the tree leaves. The focus of these artworks was experimentation and colour play.
Working in the stunning light of the orangery, the space was a natural gallery to exhibit the final pieces for the locals to view. I intend to have another residency in this space to continue the exploration of colour and light through these trees.
